Great Britain
James I (1603-25) gold "Britain" Crown ND, S-2624, North-2090, 2nd Coinage of 1604-19, 1st Bust, Rose mm (struck 1605-06), AU50 NGC, a beautiful example although the obverse legend is much doubled, flan slightly wavy, portrait clear, the reverse wonderfully detailed from the center of the shield to the bold Tudor-Stuart legend (one of the best of this side we have seen), still lustrous and in fact showing little if any actual wear. The Latin legend surrounding the shield translates to mean "Henry [united] the Roses, James the Kingdoms" -- and in fact James' 2nd Coinage introduced the MAG BRIT or "Great Britain" slogan.
