James I (1603-25) gold Unite ND, S-2619, North-2084, 2nd Coinage of 1604-19, Escallop mm (struck 1606-07), 4th Bust, AU50 NGC, way above average for this type, struck a bit unevenly but with many parts of the designs sharply detailed, including the king's face, the obverse mintmark and the legends, which are complete; exceptionally round flan, choice surfaces, old-time reddish gold toning. All in all, a very pleasing, choice example of this classic from the hammered era. (Mis-attributed on the NGC grading insert as S-2608.)From the collection of Donald E.
