Great Britain
George III Crown 1818, S-3787, KM675, LIX edge, MS65 PCGS, a beautiful gem of a coin, offering a bold strike, a satiny obverse combined with a prooflike reverse, nearly perfect surfaces, and rich golden blue iridescent toning. The three dates of this type are of about equal value and scarcity, but 1818 is of special interest to many collectors as the first date of the New Coinage crowns. This is an undisturbed, fully original, old-time piece -- one of the finest we have seen. It has been some time since a comparable George III crown has appeared at auction. Worth a strong winning bid at or above our top estimate.
Estimate: 2500-3500 USD
