George III gold Half Guinea 1811, S-3737, KM651, 7th Bust, MS64 NGC, softly struck at centers but fully lustrous, prooflike, and possessing beautiful orange-gold toning. Gold of this period has never been very popular among collectors, partly because of the difficulty of grading so many of the types, but here is a certified coin which is superior to most pieces seen on the worldwide market. Scarce as a type, and this date is listed at a premium in the SCBC at £1050 in UNC (about $1700).From the collection of Donald E. Bently, sold for the benefit of the Bently Foundation
Estimate: 1250-1750 USD
