William IV Proof Crown 1831, S-3833, KM715, block incuse "W.W." as issued in the Coronation proof sets of this year, plain edge, rare, PR62 NGC, choice but for some recent friction on the king's cheek and neck, small marks on the rim and edge, light hairlines, but the mirrored fields are intact, the images are bold, and the surfaces are sheathed in bright blue iridescence with varying shades of gold. The 1831 crown is one of the "stoppers" for collectors of either English or indeed the wide world of crowns. Mintage is unknown but believed to be 150-225 pieces. Most seen today are impaired by cleaning or other problems but are still eagerly collected. This specimen is above average and offers exceptional eye-appeal. An enduring classic.

Estimate: 11000-13000 USD
