Central American Republic Escudo 1825 NG-M, KM6, Fr-29, AU Details (Holed) NGC. Extremely Fine in terms of actual wear, but holed at 12:00. No other flaws are present and overall, a presentable example. One of the rarest coins in this entire series, with only four different specimens confirmed by the cataloger, including the Bristish Museum piece (Registration number C.4008). Missing in the Norweb and Eliasberg collections. The only offering noted in the past twenty years was the Haberthuer specimen (SBC 1/1996, lot 2640). That piece was catalogued as about XF, but it was most probably plugged at 12:00 (the cataloguer has not examined that coin personally, but the image shows a gouge after "DEL' on the obverse while the E in CREZCA on the reverse is clearly retooled). In all probability, that piece was comparable to the present specimen. Ex. Freeman Craig (3/1981, lot 483 for $1,500, and described as "RRRR and previously unconfirmed").From The Isaac Rudman Collection of Guatemala Coins
Estimate: 2000-3000 USD
