Republic gold Pattern 5 & 10 Pesos Heaton Mint Set 1894, KM-Pn24 & KM-Pn27. Fr-46 & Fr-47 (large head). PR67 Cameo & PR65 Cameo. Only 17 pieces struck of each. An absolutely breathtaking pair of patterns! The 5 Pesos is Superb Proof, while the 10 Pesos is Gem Proof. Extremely rare, and perhaps unique since this matching set comes with the original presentation box. The latter reads: Muestras de Monedas de oro, acuñadas con los troqueles fabricados por la "Mint" de Birmingham, para el Gobierno de Guatemala en 1894, siendo Presidente el General Don J. Reyna Barrios. Although the Heaton Mint won the contract to mint coins for Guatemala (and would continue to do so for thirty years, up to 1924), no regular gold coinage was in fact issued. Only 17 gold patterns, and very few off-metal strikes were issued with this design, which is a shame. Another prize from the I. Rudman collection. From The Isaac Rudman Collection of Guatemala Coins
