Gold Reef City Five-piece Proof Krugerrand Set 1987-1991, Hern, GRC, 01, 02, 04, 06, & 07. Started in 1987, the Gold Reef City series was developed by the South African Mint on a mining site south of Johannesburg. The site was built around an original mine shaft, and mine buildings. Here, collectors could personally strike their own Krugerrands on the "Oom Paul" Press. Each of these coins has the small "GRC " mark on the reverse, showing that they were struck at Gold Reef City. We offer a complete five-piece set in custom wooden South Africa mint case. Mintages (according to Krause) 1987 GRC 1,186 pcs, 1988 GRC 1,026 pcs, 1989 GRC 399 pcs, 1990 GRC 1,066 pcs, and 1991 GRC 426 pcs. That makes a miniscule total of 4,103 pieces for the five years production. AGW 5 oz.
