Mallorca. Pedro I (IV of Aragon, 1343-87) gold Real de oro ND, Fr-48, Cayon-Unlisted (see Cayon-2057a for type in 1/2 Real denomination), AU55 NGC. + ♦ : PЄTRVS : DЄI : GRACIA : RЄX : ♦, King seated facing on throne holding scepter and orb, a scallop in the left field / + ARAGOnVM : ЄT | MAIORICARVM, patriarchal cross in tressure of arches decorated with rosettes and annulets, a scallop to either side and a rosette above. Lightly toned with a slightly crude obverse portrait, the legends and reverse design are boldly struck. Apparently a very rare type with scallop mintmarks, we were unable to find a second example in this denomination in any auction records.Ex: Huntington Collection - 16791 (Jesus Vico 130, Lot 340)
