Trinidad & Tobago
Tobago 1798 Moco (1 ½ Bitts), KM9, Prid-2. Extremely Fine of thereabouts, and unusually choice. A cut central portion of a Spanish Colonial 8 Reales, with a radiate script "T" countermark. This piece has 15 crenellations and the usual die break showing to the left of the script "T". The weight at 3.33 grams is slightly overweight, as was the very similar Ralph Gordon specimen (3.50 grams, see Baldwin's 10/1996, lot 131). One of the rarest "plugs" of the entire West Indies cut and countermarked series.
Estimate: 1500-2000 USD
