The Jurchen chieftain Nurhachi (Tian Ming) declared himself Khan in 1616, founding the later Jin Dynasty. After his death, his son Hong Taiji renamed the dynasty, the Qing, thus Nurhachi is traditionally considered the founder of the Qing. Fine. (2).
