SELEUCID KINGDOM. Tryphon (ca. 142-138 BC). AR tetradrachm (33mm, 15.74 gm, 1h). XF, tooled, corroded. Antioch. Diademed head of Tryphon right, large, and heavily featured, diadem ends falling straight behind; bead-and-reel border / BAΣIΛEΩΣ / TPYΦΩNOΣ / AYTOKPATOPOΣ, spiked Macedonian helmet facing left, ibex horn above visor decorated with laurel, cheek guards decorated with thunderbolt, bowl decorated with standing figure at center flanked by medallion (at left) with eagle standing left, and medallion (at right) with panther standing right; ΠA monogram (removed from die) in left field, oak wreath border. SC 2031.1. Obverse portrait tooled, thus ineligible for encapsulation.
