Canada Dominion of Canada $2 1.7.1870 DC-3b PMG Choice Fine 15. Payable to Toronto this example is very rare in any grade. This was the highest denomination issued in the 1870 series, as $4 notes were not issued until 1882 and denominations of $5 and above were reserved for issuance by chartered banks. This example bears the portraits of Generals Wolfe and Montcalm, the main protagonists in the decisive battle for control of North America fought on the Plains of Abraham in 1759.
