Canada St. John's, NF- Government of Newfoundland $1 2.1.1920 NF-12d PMG Choice Extremely Fine 45 EPQ. An appealing portrait of King George V graces on this stunning hand signed example. Impressive deep inks attribute to the delightful visual on this deeply embossed note. The Newfoundland Treasury Notes of 1920 were issued to deal with a shortage of silver coin (precipitated, as Charlton notes, by the withdrawal of the cash notes) at a time when the price of silver was very high on world markets.
