Great Britain Bank of England 1 Pound ND (1914) Pick 347 PMG Choice Uncirculated 64. The second of only two denominations issued in 1914 to supplement Bank of England issued notes and to attempt to ease cash supply during this turbulent time in history. It was no secret that by having the Treasury issue these small change notes, certain restrictions could be bypassed, that the Bank of England otherwise could not. Apart from wanting to take advantage of the liberties available to the Treasury, there was the assumption that these notes would be preferred in Scotland and Ireland. Minor ink is mentioned for accuracy. https://currency.ha.com/itm/world-currency/great-britain-bank-of-england-1-pound-nd-1914-pick-347-pmg-choice-uncirculated-64/a/4039-25191.s?type=DA-DMC-CoinArchivesCurrency-WorldPaperMoney-4039-10202022 HID08706262019 © 2022 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
