Iran German Military WWI 12 Kran 10 Shahi on 5 Mark ND (1916-17) Pick M1 PMG Choice Uncirculated 64. A 1904 German banknote overprinted in Persian that was used by the Turkish and German military in Mesopotamia and the Middle East during WWI. Persia suffered a coin shortage during World War I, and overprinted German notes circulated for a brief period in 1916 and 1917. This is an uncommon type, as there are a plethora of lower-quality counterfeits that diminish the importance of the genuine examples. It will be the first time that we have offered this variety in any grade, let alone as fine as this one! This note will be the highest graded example on the PMG Population Report by far, as the next graded note grades Very Fine 35, with a total of only three graded by PMG.
