Iraq Government of Iraq 1 Dinar 1.7.1931 Pick 3a PMG Choice Extremely Fine 45. A nicely preserved, pre-war Bradbury and Wilkinson & Co. product, using old school features like a watermark of King Faisal I and intaglio steel engraving. The first series of Iraqi Government notes were introduced in early 1932, replacing the Indian Rupee which circulated throughout the region previously. King Faisal I appeared on the front of all denominations. However, King Faisal suffered a fatal heart attack in 1933, and his son, Ghazi, replaced him on the next series of notes issued in 1934 and 1935. This handsome 1 Dinar features vivid colors, wide, clean margins, visible embossing, and only light circulation. The first of two possible signature variations is seen on this example: Young / Askari / Hornsby. A very desirable note, especially in this grade. https://currency.ha.com/itm/world-currency/iraq-government-of-iraq-1-dinar-171931-pick-3a-pmg-choice-extremely-fine-45/a/4039-25272.s?type=DA-DMC-CoinArchivesCurrency-WorldPaperMoney-4039-10202022 HID08706262019 © 2022 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
