Isles of France and of Bourbon Isle de France et de Bourbon 5 Livres 28.7.1790 Pick 16 PMG Uncirculated 61. A stunning, well preserved example of this rare 18th-century colonial issue, this Pick 16 5 Livres holds the highest grade in the PMG Population Report, of a mere two registered. Additionally, PMG's report shows a total of only 11 recorded notes for all issues of the Isles of France and of Bourbon, revealing the limited number surviving examples from the French Islands series. Of interest, these Islands were renamed shortly after the banknote issues, taking on their present day names of Mauritius (formerly Isle de France) and Reunion (formerly Isle de Bourbon). Printed simply in the classic French style, the note was fully issued with a handwritten serial number and signatures.
