Israel Bank Leumi Le-Israel B.M. 1 Pound ND (1952) Pick 20fp (2); 20bp Front Proof; Partial Front and Back Proofs PCGS Choice About New 58; Choice About New 58PPQ (2). This lot includes three Proofs of the 1 Pound printed by ABNCo for the Bank Leumi Le-Israel B.M. All three examples are uniface and cancelled with two punch holes. This lot provides an interesting insight into the printing process of banknotes. It is instructive to note that the black and white schemes were not those used in actual production (olive and pink) suggesting these are ABNCo die proofs for purposes such as checking press pressures and the like. Undoubtedly excessively rare, these notes served as the plate illustrations on pages 22-23 in Dvir's 2022 book.
