Israel Bank Leumi Le-Israel B.M. 500 Pruta Pick Unlisted Composite Essay. A truly breathtaking Artist Rendition of the smallest denomination from the 1955 issue for the Bank of Israel. Although the design was never adopted, it would be Pick 24 for type. There are numerous differences between this rendition and the draft that was ultimately decided on, but holds true to the general archeological theme chosen for this initial family of notes. The Hoofien and Barth signature combination ceased after the 1952 issue, and was replaced by the Horowitz and Hoofien combination. The olive motif at center was sadly eliminated from the issued example, and the "A" prefix was substituted for an Aleph. Additionally, the last Hebrew letter of the word Prutah in center of the note is incorrect. Artist renditions for Israel are rare, and infrequently make their way to auction. Mounted on cardstock and incredibly attractive. Known as a "composite essay" this note provides evidence of early note design process that occurred between January and August, 1952 and was unknown until discovered by the artist's son in 2008 after his father's passing. The father had worked for Thomas De La Rue in the 1950s. Absolutely unique and a great historic piece, this essay serves as the plate illustration on page 41 in the Dvir book.
