Israel Bank Leumi Le-Israel B.M. 1 Lira ND (ca. 1953-44) Pick Unlisted Printer's Design PMG About Uncirculated 53. A view of Upper Galilee is portrayed on this beautiful denomination. While this design is famous for being part of the first series of notes issued by the Bank of Israel, apparently, it began its life before that time. Thomas de la Rue prepared this excellent note, along with the other designs in the series, for the Bank Leumi before the Bank of Israel was created. Ultimately, these notes were not issued by the Bank Leumi, but rather, repurposed for the Bank of Israel and issued in 1955. Lightened rust and a printer notation are mentioned for accuracy. This Specimen is currently believed to be unique in this form based on recent research by Raphael Dvir and serves as the plate note in his new book on page 72.
