Simply beautiful engravings by the American Bank Note Company are seen on both sides of these intriguing types. Issued examples are scarce, leaving Specimen as the more practical option to acquire these denominations and designs. Previous mounting is mentioned on all three notes and surface damage is noted on the 1 Lira example. Dvir's research suggests that the 500 Pruta Specimen without the black diagonal SPECIMEN stamp is one of only two or three known at present. Such omissions of the word SPECIMEN are discussed as errors in Asher's guide book on Israeli numismatics. These three Specimen appear as plate notes on pages 102, 103, and 105 in the 2022 Dvir catalog.
