Israel Bank of Israel 500 Pruta; 1 Lira; 5; 10; 50 Lirot 1955 / 5715 Pick 24s; 25s; 26s; 27as; 28as Five Specimen PMG Choice Uncirculated 64; Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ; Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ; Superb Gem Unc 67 EPQ (2). These Specimen comprise a complete denomination set, all numbered 89, for this iconic Bank of Israel 1955 issue. This was the first series for the Bank of Israel and was printed by TDLR. These issues were short lived, about 3 years, as they were massively unpopular with the public. It is perplexing to believe how this stunning first issue could have been so badly received, featuring stunning life-like images of landscapes from across Israel. Evidently, the public did not care for the back designs. An infrequent opportunity to acquire a set of Specimen with matching control numbers, and with top tier grades as seen in this grouping. These Specimen served as the plate illustrations on pages 107 to 111 in Dvir's 2022 publication.
