Lebanon Banque de Syrie et du Liban 5 Livres 1.9.1939 Pick 27a PMG Very Fine 25. Featuring a slash overprint on both sides, this is the first variety for the 5 Livres. Although dated 1939, banknotes from this series were not issued until 1942. A variety of overprints were created to identify batches of banknotes in case they fell into the wrong hands during World War II. This specific note is easily the rarest of the five varieties. At the time of cataloging, only fourteen examples with a single slash overprint have been graded in the PMG Population Report.
