Archival Lot of 30 World War II Emergency Printing Photographic Proof Negatives. This lot includes 30 photographic proof negatives from Palestine, Lebanon and Djibouti. These are negatives that were used for the local WWII emergency printing by Pikovsky. Since it was a relatively small printing house (unlike TDLR), and due to the emergency nature of the project, they used Collotype printing technique (a gelatin-based photographic printing process) and not more sophisticated as Rotogravure. This practice was used for the WWII Syria-Lebanon and Djibouti banknotes as well. After the printing was done, and since it wasn't the most advanced anti-counterfeiting printing, they used the same photographic technique to photo notes including some with specimen overprint, to examine whether forgers can produce a forged notes out of it. https://currency.ha.com/itm/world-currency/archival-lot-of-30-world-war-ii-emergency-printing-photographic-proof-negatives-total-30-items-/a/4039-25456.s?type=DA-DMC-CoinArchivesCurrency-WorldPaperMoney-4039-10202022 HID08706262019 © 2022 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
