Upper Senegal & Niger Gouvernment General de l'Afrique Occidentale Francaise 0.50 Franc 11.2.1917 Pick 1a PMG About Uncirculated 55. The colony of Upper Senegal and Niger was formed in 1904 and remained under that name until after World War I when it became French Sudan. This note was clearly issued as a means of making change, as the obverse and reverse of a French 50 centime coin are accurately portrayed on this gorgeous piece.
