Julius Caesar as Dictator (49-44 BC). AR denarius (3.76 gm). Military mint traveling with Caesar in Spain, 46-45 BC. Diademed and draped bust of Venus left, Cupid at shoulder; before, lituus; behind, scepter / CAESAR in exergue, trophy between Gallic captive kneeling left, head turned to look back, and Gallia seated right in attitude of mourning. Crawford 468/2. CRI 59. Sydenham 1015. RSC 14. Toned, with some thicker oxide deposits. S-shaped banker's mark on Venus' cheek, otherwise Good Very Fine.
