Æthelred II (978-1016) Penny c.1009-17, Chester mint, Ælfstan as moneyer, S-1154, North-777, AU Details (Peckmarked) NGC. + ÆĐELRED REX ANG, diademed bust left / ÆLFSTAN ΘN LEIG, small cross pattée. Sharp devices on a flan of good metal with upset rims, lightly toned with hints of russet in protected areas. A single obverse peckmark is noted as well as three on the reverse.
