George III pattern gilt Halfpenny 1788, by J.P. Droz, Peck-966 (very scarce), Late Soho, "Render to Cesar" raised lettered edge, Brown Gilt PR65 Cameo NGC, superb quality for this type of gold coating on copper, called "Brown Gilt" because of the lesser amount of gold flakes sprinkled on the blank as it was struck into a coin. A beautiful pattern in wonderful condition offering a splendid portrait of King George.
