George III pattern Penny 1797, Peck-1138 (bronzed, ER), copper restrike, PR65 BN "Boulton Family Holdings" NGC, an exquisite example of this early, suggested version of the styling for the coming big copper Penny, the first in England's history of this size and metal. This marvelous coin approaches perfection with its fully struck details, its pristine surfaces, and its glorious golden purplish red proof luster. Comes with an impeccable provenance, as noted on the grading insert, as it was obtained some time ago in a London auction of the property of the Boulton family. Restrike by W.J. Taylor in the late 19th century.
