Ferdinand VI Proclamation Medal - 1/2 Real 1747-G, Medina-26, Betts-347, Fine Details (Holed). All the edge design apparent. Obverse: bust of Ferdinand VI facing right, with legend FERD . VI . D . G . HIS . ET . IND . REX . around. Reverse: Coat of arms of Santiago de los Caballeros de Guatemala (now Antigua Guatemala), with legend G . IN . EIUS . PROCLAMAT . 1747 . around. These silver proclamation medals of 1747 were the first milled issued of the Guatemala mint, produced with the minting press that was finished in 1745. Their edge design is similar to the one  later found on the milled pillar coinage, issued from 1754 until 1771. Since traces of this edge design are usually no longer found in worn (the usual grade) specimens of the smaller denominations, the present piece is in somewhat uncommon grade. From The Isaac Rudman Collection of Guatemala Coins

Estimate: 200-400 USD
