Radiate and draped bust right / PRINCIPI IVBENTVTIS (sic), Valerian II standing left, holding baton and spear. RIC V 51 var. (rev. legend); MIR 36, 1597d var. (same); Cunetio –. Toned with hints of iridescence, minor porosity. Near EF. Very rare variety.

By the mid third century, the letter B was starting to replace the V in the written language. RIC and Gӧbl record this legend variety with the prince holding spear and shield and crowning trophy, but is unrecorded for this reverse type.
