JUDAEA, Ascalon. Caracalla. 198-217 CE. BI Tetradrachm (26mm, 11.85 g, 12h). Struck 215-217 CE. Laureate head right / Eagle standing facing on palm frond, head and tail left, with wings displayed, holding wreath in beak; in exergue, dove right with olive branch in beak. Cf. Prieur 1654-1655; cf. Sofaer 177-178. Toned, granular surfaces, obverse struck with a worn die. Near VF. Very rare.
