Selections from the Eric P. Newman Collection of World Coins. Adolf Fredrik gold Medal (7 Ducats) 1767-DF, Hildebrand II, page 112 number 44, MS65 NGC. 20.83gm. Fully brilliant. An extremely rare gold medal commissioned personally by the King to celebrate the recovery of the Queen from her illness. The dies were executed by C. G. Fehrman. This piece was first acquired by the Grand Duke of Oldenburg in 1780 from his relative, Peter Friedrich, who was visiting his cousin, King Gustav III, in Stockholm. The collection remained intact until it was sold in 1924 at H. Riechmann & Company and eventually passed through the holdings of "Col." Green and Virgil Brand.
