Selections from the Eric P. Newman Collection of World Coins. Ferdinand III Pfennig in Gold 1639, St. Veit mint, KM-PnSV21, type of KM765, AU58 NGC. Slightly wavy flan. Off-metal strikes of pfennigs in gold are quite scarce, particularly if minted in the seventeenth century or earlier. This one-sided example featuring the arms of Carinthia dividing the date is bright gold in color and retains exquisite detail.Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R.
