SICILY. Syracuse. Second Democracy, 466-405 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 17.45 g, 3 h), reverse die signed by the artist Prygillos, circa 405-400. Charioteer, holding reins in both hands and kentron in left, driving a quadriga rushing to left, about to turn; above, Nike flying right to crown the driver; in exergue, grain ear. Rev. ΣΥΡΑΚΟΣΙΩΝ Head of Arethusa to left, wearing ampyx inscribed ΦΡΥ and sphendone, triple pendant earring and simple necklace; around, four dolphins swimming in different directions.
