THRACE. Mesambria. Circa 5th century. Obol (Silver, 7 mm, 0.46 g). Facing Corinthian helmet surrounded by pellets. Rev. Incuse punch. SNG BM Black Sea 265. SNG Stancomb 217. Cf. Naumann 18 (2014) 136 (as 'Asia Minor uncertain'). Same dies as CNG e332 (2014), 6. Rare. Struck slightly off centre, otherwise, very fine.



Based on the reverse incuse type, this can very well be the oldest coin of Mesambria.
