(MHP) - ΘV / H Α/ΓΙ-O-CΟ/ΡΙ/ΤΙ/CΑ The Virgin Hagiosoritissa standing slightly right, orans; to upper right, manus Dei. DOC 19. SB 2039. Rare depiction of Saint Peter on a Byzantine coin. Good very fine.



The Latin rulers of Constantinople, being Catholics, utilized Saint Peter as the obverse type for this issue. This would never have appeared on an Orthodox issue.
