O ΠΑΝΤ-ΟΚΡΑΤΟΡ/ IX-XC Nimbate Jesus Christ standing facing. Rev. IΩ/ CKEΠOIC/ ME CON ΠΑΝΤ-ΟΚΡΑΤΟΡ in five metric lines, the whole within dotted border. Wassiliou-Seibt, metrischen, -. cf. DO Seals 5, 54.1b. Laurent 1907. Very rare. Very fine.



The Pantokrator monastery was founded by John II Comnenus (1118-1143) on the east side of the church of the Holy Apostles. Around 1136, the monastery was the home of around 80 monks.
