BYZANTINE SEALS. Ioannes monk of the Pantokrator monastery, circa 12th century. Seal or Bulla (Lead, 24.0 mm, 8.59 g, 12 h), Monastery of the Pantokrator, Constantinople, after 1118. O ΠΑΝΤ-ΟΚΡΑΤΟΡ/ IX-XC Nimbate Jesus Christ standing facing. Rev. IΩ/ CKEΠOIC/ ME CON ΠΑΝΤ-ΟΚΡΑΤΟΡ in five metric lines, the whole within dotted border. Wassiliou-Seibt, metrischen, -. cf. The Pantokrator monastery was founded by John II Comnenus (1118-1143) on the east side of the church of the Holy Apostles. Around 1136, the monastery was the home of around 80 monks.
