SERBIA. Stefan Uros V, as tsar, 1355-1371. Dinar (Silver, 20 mm, 1.42 g, 2 h), Kotor (Cattaro) in Dalmatia, Serbian protectorate. ·VROSIVS ·IŊPERATOR Stefan seated on throne facing, holding scepter in his right hand and globus cruciger in his left. Rev. ·STRIPhOŊ ·CATAREŊ· St. Tryfon, nimbate, standing facing within mandorla, holding palm frond in his right hand and cross in his left. CNI VI, 50. Jovanovic 25.6.1. Jovanovic, Serbien, 25.12. Ljubić X,11. I 9.30. Very rare coin with just 8 examples in recent sales, representing all known variations for this mint under the dominion of Stefan Uros . Obverse doublestruck and with very considerable flatness on both sides, otherwise, good fine.
The CNI lists this type under Dalmatia & Albania (which is sensible since, of course, that is where Cattaro is); which was then mostly under Venetian dominion. Cattalo, however, was then part of the Serbian empire.
