James I (1603-1625), Second Coinage, Unite, 1605-1606, Tower, second crowned and cuirassed half-length bust right, holding orb and sceptre, rev. crowned square-topped shield, dividing I-R, 9.72g, 3h, m.m. rose (Schneider II, 22-23; North 2083; Spink 2618), edges made round and smoothing above crown from jewellery, a small repair by sword arm, otherwise uniformly bold, struck details very fine or marginally better.
