Great Britain, silver Admiral Vernon medal, 1739, Vernon with ship and cannon / Porto Bello, rare, ex-Adams. AC-PBvi11P. 16.82 grams; 39 mm. Beautifully toned AU+, possibly polished at one point, with choice sharp details all over, its tag stating "Old English Coll'n via Peter Thompson / 1/15" and giving a measured specific gravity of 8.26, certainly one of the most beautiful silver Vernon medals in existence. XRF: 84.53% silver. Pedigreed to the John Adams Collection (with his handwritten tag).
