GREAT BRITAIN. George III, 1760-1820. Pattern 2 Guineas, 1768.
S-3724; Fr-351; KM-Pn49; Wilson & Rasmussen-79. Finely detailed laureate bust right, intricate hair details. Rv. Crowned garnished arms. Engraved by John Tanner. Plain edge. Rarity-4 in W&R. Pattern only issue. The obverse hair details not as quite pronounced as on the Five Guineas patterns. Both sides uniformly prooflike and reflective. Attractive golden hue and basically as made. Another important George III gold coin. NGC PF-63.
