GREAT BRITAIN. George III, 1760-1820. Pattern 5 Pounds, 1820.
S-3783; Fr-369; KM-Pn84; Wilson & Rasmussen-177. Laureate bust right, fierce facial details and short coarse hair; date below. Rv. Pistrucci's classically styled St. George and the Dragon, no legends or date. Lettered edge DECUS ET TUTAMEN ANNO REGNI LX. Engraved by Benedetto Pistrucci and signed on both sides. Rarity-4 in W& R. Reportedly only 25 struck. A distinguished and classic design with the St. George motif floating beautifully in the unobstructed field. Glimmering proof surfaces on both sides with the obverse partially cameo. Hairlined a bit from an old wiping. Minor reverse field bump between the two forelegs of the horse. NGC PF-61 CAMEO.
