GREAT BRITAIN. Royal Academy of Arts Silver Plated Bronze Medal, 1768 (Awarded 1770-1829).
54.41 mm; 62.43 gms. George III (1760-1820). BHM-133; Eimer-724. By T. Pingo. Head of George III with hair bound by ribbon right; Reverse: Representation of the Belvedere Torso. An interesting specimen as this metal combination is not listed by Eimer or the BHM. Eimer does note that initially the award was in silver and later also awarded in bronze, so perhaps this was an experimental transitional type. The edge is not inscribed with the recipients name as some later medals are. Deeply toned obverse. Some colored highlights throughout. Some small contact marks. EXTREMELY FINE.
