IRELAND. Collection "Gun Money" Coinage, 1689-90.
24 pieces in lot. Contains the following: Crown (1), 1/2 Crown (11), Shilling (8) and 6 Pence (1). Historic "necessity" coins issued during the Irish Civil War, made from repurposed brass cannon and church bells, thus the name "gun money." An attractive lot overall with little duplication of dates, one 1/2 Crown has a small hole, others show signs of porosity. Also includes a pair of 1/2 Pennies and a Farthing dated 1691 from the Siege of Limerick. Standard Catalog of World Coins value of $2,400. SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS. FINE-ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
