PUERTO RICO. Peso Mint Error Double Struck Blank Planchet Obstruction, 1895-PGV. PCGS Genuine--Rim Damage, Unc Details D/S-2nd Strike 80% O/C Secure Holder.
KM-24; El-1. The secondary strike is 80% off-center showing only details of the reverse die. The obverse double strike shows only an obscuring of the original design as a fresh blank planchet had been fed between the dies and this , the original coin. The reverse shows a small indention that runs parallel along the secondary strike from where the original coin made contact with the curvature of the die. Two areas of the rim on the obverse are impress as well as a small area on the king forehead from where the coin made contact with the outer rim of the color during the mint error process. An absolutely spectacular mint error that would make an excellent addition to even the most sophisticated collection. A remarkable piece with and exceptional pedigree. Nicely toned with a light purple hue. PCGS Genuine--Rim Damage, Unc Details D/S-2nd Strike 80% O/C Secure Holder.

Pedigreed to the collection of a well known Puerto Rican numismatist and author Efrain Archilla-Diez.
