MIXED LOTS. World Medals, 18th & 19th Century.
27-59 mms. 13 pieces in lot, primarily European and silver. The only non-silver piece is a silver plated 1840 Strassburg medal eulogizing J.B. Kleber, killed while commanding his army in Egypt in 1800. The only modern piece is a RARE large (51 mm; 104.7 gms) French silver medal honoring Adrien Blanchet on sixty years in archaeology and numismatics, by Corbin and privately produced at the Paris mint; edge lettered: (cornucopia) "ARGENT XXIX". The only non-European piece is a 33.5 mm Proclamation medal of Agustin Iturbide, Emperor of Mexico at Toluca in 1822. Others include (3) of the same noting the founding of Ateneo de Lyon, a Swedish 1774 medal of Gustav III, Northern Netherlands Bois-le0duc on the Peace of Utrecht, a 1786 Kurlinie Palatinate medal for the 400th anniversary of the University of Heidelberg. (4) additional French silver medals. SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS. Average grade EXTREMELY FINE.
