FRANCE. Grands Magasins des Louvres, 1855-1905.
51mm silver, by Daniel-Dupuis. In gold-stamped original, commemorative case. Obverse: D-D's design for the turn of the Century (1900). Reverse: half wreath and text. This was a department store, just north of the Louvre. It closed in 1974 and the building now houses Louvre des Antiquaries. Probably the largest and finest antiques center in the world. Daniel-Dupuis died in 1900, so the reverse is not his work. The original case, with its eight lines of text and date, is impressive. Nice case. NEARLY SUPERB MINT STATE.
