FRANCE. Army Orphanage, WW1, ND.
Given in appreciation for donations. 32x32mm (plus integral loop), by Lalique. Uniface. Struck in SOLID SILVER, and Rare thus. On blank reverse, a number (482) of unknown significance.
Normally struck in thin brass. Lalique created about 10 different premiums for war donations, struck in thin brass, sometimes gilt, or in paper ("carton"). Most are rare. The Orphanage piece is very common, but rare when struck on a solid flan. A choice piece, with beautiful glistening blue-black toning.
CHOICE EXTREMELY FINE.
